Hawaiian coffee is known to be of high quality. It is the only place where coffee is grown in the United States. Hawaiian coffee is often associated with Kona coffee or its related blends. There is other lesser known coffee grown in the other islands of Hawaii.

It is the fifth largest island of the Hawaii archipelago and has two distinct volcanoes on the island. It is also known as "Friendly Isle" and is the least developed island in Hawaii. While other areas of Hawaii have undergone rapid development, the Molokai Island remains almost untouched.

The island of Hawaii including Molokai was formed from a series of volcanic explosions. Consequently, the soil is intensely red and is highly saturated with minerals ideal for coffee plant growth. This volcanic soil is very favorable to the growth of Hawaiian coffee on this island.

Besides the rich volcanic soil, there's a large plantation establish on Molokai. It is located along the banks of Molokai Irrigation System reservoir. This reservoir acts as a buffer and maintains the humidity around the plantation. It also provides the Hawaiian coffee producer water to irrigate their plants.

Conclusion

Hawaiian coffee is not new to the market especially Kona coffee. It is one of the top coffee beans in the world and commands a premium price. While coffee of Molokai is still a new player in the market, it has its loyal followers especially lovers of organic coffee.
